WhatsApp Business verified badge: how to get it and what changes

Published on October 17, 2026

The blue badge next to a business’s name on WhatsApp comes from a paid Meta subscription called Meta Verified.

It tells customers that Meta has checked the account, based on the business’s activity across Meta’s apps or on documents it submitted.

According to the WhatsApp Help Center, the subscription is monthly, and the badge shows up on the business profile, in chats, in the Calls tab and on calls the business makes.

First, check whether the option is there for you.

The official Meta Verified page says to open WhatsApp Business, go to Settings or Business Tools and look for Meta Verified.

If you don’t see it, the feature isn’t available for your account yet.

Who can subscribe

The requirements are on the eligibility page.

The person subscribing has to be at least 18 years old and have a phone number from a country where Meta Verified for businesses is available.

The WhatsApp Business account has to:

  • Have been on the app for a while (Meta doesn’t say how many days).
  • Have sent a message recently.
  • Have a profile name and picture.
  • Not have an active Meta Verified subscription through Meta Business Suite.

The same eligibility page notes that government and political organizations are left out for now, and that the rules may change.

What the subscription includes

Every plan comes with the badge, protection against people pretending to be your business, in-app support and a business web page.

According to the official plans page, what changes from one plan to the next is mainly how many devices you can link and how many verified channels you can have.

From Business Plus up, you also get prioritized support and business broadcasts.

  • Business Standard: up to 4 devices and 1 verified channel.
  • Business Plus: up to 6 devices and 3 verified channels.
  • Business Premium: up to 8 devices, 5 verified channels and 10 protected business accounts.
  • Business Max: up to 10 devices, 10 verified channels and 50 protected business accounts.

What about the price?

The same plans page explains that Meta decides which plans to offer based on the business’s activity, including how many conversations it has with customers on WhatsApp, and that offers can change the amount.

That’s why we don’t list a price here: the one that counts is what the app shows for your account when you subscribe.

Step by step in the app

Here’s the path, per the official how-to:

  1. From your chat list, tap Tools and then Meta Verified.
  2. Tap Continue and pick the plan recommended for your business.
  3. Select the accounts you want to verify. If your business’s Facebook and Instagram are linked, you can verify them all at once.
  4. Set up your payment method and make the first payment.
  5. Select your business, choose a verification method and send the information requested.

The review can take up to three business days, or longer when there’s a high volume of requests, and the blue tick shows up on your profile once you’re approved, according to the same page.

The name you use for the subscription has to match the one on the business documents you submit.

Paying isn’t the same as getting the badge

Subscribing puts your business into review, and Meta might not be able to verify it.

The most common cause, according to the page on verification problems, is the name: if the business name you entered doesn’t match your WhatsApp Business profile name, verification fails.

The app offers an Update profile name option, and the new review usually takes about 48 hours.

If your business was registered recently, the advice is to wait four weeks and try again.

If it doesn’t work out, there’s a refund.

The refunds page says Meta refunds the payment when you don’t complete verification or when it can’t verify your business.

Canceling after you’ve been verified, though, doesn’t get you anything back for the current billing cycle, and an account that breaks the policies loses the subscription with no refund.

Get your profile right before you subscribe

This is where a lot of people get stuck after subscribing.

Once Meta Verified is active, the name, category, address, email and website on your business profile are locked, and editing them yourself removes the badge, according to the page on business information.

Right after verification, your profile may stay locked for up to 20 days.

After that, you can change the picture once every three days and the name once every 60 days, always with a review.

In practice, double-check your name, category, address, email and website before you pay.

If your shop is moving next month, it’s worth waiting for the move and subscribing afterward.

What makes the badge go away

A few things that happen all the time in a business will take the badge down:

  • Changing your phone number cancels the subscription, and you’ll have to subscribe again with the new number, according to the official how-to.
  • Switching your account from WhatsApp Business to regular WhatsApp removes the badge, per the same page.
  • Canceling the subscription keeps only your 4 most recently used devices linked, and your business web page goes offline 15 days after the subscription ends. The page’s address becomes free for another business to claim after 30 days, according to the subscription management page.

Switching to a new phone while keeping the same number doesn’t affect the subscription, according to the same management page.

What the badge doesn’t solve

The badge tells customers they’re talking to the right business.

It doesn’t answer the question they sent.

A verified profile that’s slow to reply still loses the customer to whoever answered first.

Where we come in

If you’re thinking about the badge to build trust, think about what happens after the customer writes in, too.

We set up the assistant on your business’s WhatsApp with your own content, books on your real calendar when that’s what’s needed, and hands anything off-script to a person.

The trust the badge opens up carries on into the conversation, even after hours.
